Sky Cinema Wizarding World
Sky Cinema Promo
A great open brief opportunity here, pitched and won.
For the first time ever, Sky Cinema had all 10 movies (Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts) from the Wizarding World franchise available to watch. It was a big one.
The team (Leah Chander and Gary Marston) and I initially pitched topline ideas internally and won the chance to work on this project together.
Once we’d gotten through to judges bootcamp we locked ourselves away with the Cinema and Strategy teams to develop 3 different routes to not only our internal clients, but to Warner Bros., Warner Bros. International and the Blair Partnership. A lot of people to impress and that’s not even including the Harry Potter die-hard fans.
After several pitches and ditches…We all came to the decision of creating a seamless edit, taking viewers on a journey through spellbinding moments from the Wizarding World. We accompanied it with a short poem, one that had to be re-written a few times because Warner Bros. felt it sounded like JK Rowling had written it… (I love that chapter in Harry Potter where Ron talks about adding Sky Cinema to his existing package for just £11 a month).
Moving through each moment from left to right, we attempted to showcase the variety and spectacle that exists in each corner of the world. (This was an easy win from Warner Bros, as one of the key things they wanted was a distinct split between each film, so we weren’t breaking any franchise rules!) At one point, Eddie Redymane was even put on the table to voice the spot. Still waiting to hear back from his agent.
Even with lots of red-tape and Wizarding World lore to abide by, the spot really managed to encompass the spell-binding charm that these movies have over their fans.
